The "Rodders" had 125 car/trucks and the "Choppers" had over 100 entries. (Check out photo highlights here.)   Check KIIC's webcam to see what is happening on the square.

Join us in Albia as we kickoff a summer of celebration to commemorate 150 years of incorporation.  All activities for the Rodders & Choppers will be held on the historic Albia square Saturday, June 27th.

This first weekend is dedicated to celebrating modes of transportation.  The morning  activities begin at 8:00 am with a bicycle ride starting at the southwest corner of the Albia Square, touring around town, then out to our neighbor Avery for breakfast at the Avery Methodist Church, and back to Albia.  All ages can participate in this 15-20 mile ride, but a sag wagon is provided for those whose bicycles need a rest.  Join us for a fun ride over gently rolling hills. The ride will have a $15 entry fee for adults, which includes a Sesquicentennial t-shirt, light snacks, and water.  Money left over from t-shirt expenses will be donated to St. Jude's Childrens Research Hospital. If you collect pledges or give a free will donation of $35, or more, you will also receive a t-shirt from St. Jude's. Registration and pledge sheets can be picked up at the Albia Area Chamber of Commerce office, Duea Motor, or from Hjalmer Lindberg (641-932-2805).

Then be sure to register your children ages 4-11 for the Hawkeye Pedal Pull.  This is a sanctioned event, and 1st and 2nd place winners become eligible for State Championship’s to be held in Marshalltown sometime in September.  More information can be found at the official website at www.hawkeyepedalpull.com.  Registration begins at 8:30 on the bandstand with the pull starting at 9 am.

For middle school age and older kids, we’ve set up an obstacle course to test their bicycle skills!  Everything from a wet sand pit, balance beam, to surprises yet to be determined! Bring your own bike, and helmets will be required.  Races will be timed with deductions for penalties.  Prizes will be awarded for fastest race.

At 11am get your list for the Scavenger Hunt—on bicycle!  Teams of four will have an hour to scour the town finding your items on the list.  The team returning to the bandstand at noon with the most items found will be our winner! Sign-up at the bandstand by 10:45am to have your team participate.  Come up with a great team name -- you could win a prize!

While everyone is enjoying the Pedal Pull and bicycle events, you’ll start seeing vintage to modern cars, trucks and motorcycle
sSample plaque to be awarded. roll into the Albia square for the Rodders & Choppers Show & Shine.  (Click here for event details.) Cars and trucks roll in about 10 am and motorcycles around 1 pm.  There is no fee to enter your vehicle or motorcycle, so shine it up—we’re looking for any and all years—and bring it to the square to show off - you might even go home with an awesome plaque!  (Download registration form.)

As always, look for delicious food and drink around the square.  The Lions will have their food trailer set up, as well as the always popular funnel cakes by the Masons.  New this year, Chuck's BBQ will make an appearance, which will set many mouths watering! Many of the local establishments will be open for your dining pleasure as well.

At 3:30 pm the bandstand comes alive with some serious jammin'.  Then our local talent will dust off their guitars for some serious jammin'! Paul Hatfield, John Bain and Randy Noe have already committed to jam with us. Bring your lawn chairs—and your guitar--for what promises to be a wild evening!
